I have just had my main fuse board changed, when the power to the house was switched off the alarm went off. This is the first time this has ever occured so we thought our battery may need changing. when the power was turned on i tried to reset the system but we get no response from the keyboard (no sounds when pressing the keypad)The lights that show on the panel are 2 (red, this is a spare zone) power (red) and day (green)

Could anybody give me a clue as to what i need to do to sort this out.

Many thanks

Sounds like the tamper switch is not down properly on the control panel lid, or you have accidently pulled a wire out of the tamper circuit . Another thing worth checking is the resistor on the rear of the main PCB if its black and there are scorch marks on the PCB then you need a new panel, as your panel wont be able to charge your new battery.

Have you replaced the battery?

Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.

Thanks for the replies.

The control panel has not been opened and as far as i can see the sparky was nowhere near any of the alarm cables. As of yet we have not replaced the battery but i was under the impression when the power was switched back on the system would operate again ( i am probably wrong as uaual )

Thanks

You need to down power the panel, mains and battery.

Power back up with mains only then connect new battery.

(alarm will sound) Close lid.

Put in your code then press reset.

If your code does not work then it will be back to factory default number.

Thanks for your reply kwc. I think I need to get a new battery and go from there, if that does not work then I will be back asking for more help!! Not sure where I can get a battery from though. I looked on ebay and they seem to be expensive around £12. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct sort of price as I don't want to get ripped off.

Many thanks for any help given.

£12 is cheap I wouldnt trust a battery at that price and I can get them trade, I hasnt realised that you hadnt changed the battery already, the knackered battery will be drawing more current than the psu can supply so the voltage is not high enough for the panel to work, if you diss the old battery and then power up you will find it works, pay attention to my earlier email and inspect the PCB if its burnt or scorched you will be wasting your money on anew battery

Most diy stores have a security section if your really stuck.

B and Q or electrical wholesale outlets.

Battery needs to be rechargeable 12volt, 2.1 - 2.9 ah.

You could restart the panel without the battery for now but get a battery as soon as you can.

What area are you from?

May be someone on here lives in your area and could tell you where to pick up a battery.
