Guest Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Well, I've been resisting registering for a while as I'm not a fan of web-based forums but I've decided I will just this once! I'm not a security engineer as such, but I do install alarms when I get time. I'm mainly into data and telecoms now after starting out with an electrical apprenticeship from school. I've always been interested in moving towards something in security\IT and hopefully I can expand more in the security direction over the coming months\years after spending the past 18 months - 2 years building up my part in the IT arena. I'm sure a lot of you here are in a similar situation to me with the galactic milages covered every year, I personally am based in Shrewsbury, but the business is based in Sheffield, and we tend to work anywhere in the UK so I can be 10 minutes or 3 hours away from the job in the morning! Anyway, not sure how much help I can be on the forums but I'll try. All the best. Stuart Whitchurch. All Cable Solutions Ltd. (There'll be a link to a website here one day when I get time to build it!)
Guest dale Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Hope you enjoy the forum, when you have a few more posts you might want to apply for trade membership. Dale
Service Engineer Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Welcome Lurch, glad you took the plunge and decided to register. ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)
Guest Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 when you have a few more posts you might want to apply for trade membership. 19455[/snapback] I've noticed you suggest that a couple of times, how might that procedure go then?
Guest dale Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Make a number of posts and contribute to the forum, then fill out and application form and the admin/moderating team will look at the application and decide whether you would benefit and were considered "in the trade", then we either let you in or don't, or give you a middle designation.
