cretan-steve Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Hi, Hope you are all well, you very kindly gave me some advise on a Homelink 75 system I have installed over here in Crete a little while ago but the process ground to a halt when I decided the back-up batteries may have been the cause of my problems, these have now been changed and I am trying to get the system up and running again but regrettably without much success. Without going all over old ground again it is perhaps better to start where I am now, the panel will not set reliably, it gives a simple but not very helpful 'system cannot set' message on the screen with verbal backup and try as I might I cannot get to the bottom of it. When it happens if I go into 'installer mode' and then do nothing except push the 'exit' and confirm 'yes' buttons the panel resumes standby, I push the remote fob and it sets no problem. I have 5 pir's all give signal strength of 9 and all have new batteries, the 'walk test' works fine as well ? I do not have door contacts, I have one panic alarm. When the system does set it works fine and is reliable with no false alarms. Any input from you guys on this problem would be very helpful but I suspect I have a duff panel, has anyone got one lying around ? Thanks steve

Thanks steve Just a guess here but when you're trying to set and it wont set are you anywhere near a pir? Have you tried setting from outside?
kwc Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Not knowing this panel but is the panic button reset okay? Some panels refuse to set if button is not reset and will not show up on the display.
cretan-steve Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Hi Peter, I have all the pir's set as an exit route's to try and overcome that, I trust that would solve it ? When we go to bed we try and set the alarm, there are no pir's upstairs yet and when it will not set I delay for say 5 mins and still nothing, likewise when we go out through the front door we have the same problem, again delaying the setting makes no difference. Hi kwc, I am not aware of a panic button on this panel, but strangely, the first panel we had which was connected to a phone line got blown up in an electrical storm, that panel worked well by the way ! did have the button marked with the orange dot on the bottom right of the keyboard and the three pairs of buttons directly above it working as a ' panic ' and would set the alarm off when pushed, both this panel and another I have which does not want to work either do not work in the same way and do nothing ?
Alarm Protection Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Steve, Sounds like you have had problems with this type of panel. Maybe bite the bullet and go for the new Scantronic I-ON equipment? !
mma Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 You could have a door contact still open or set as normally open. Also make sure the system has no tampers. Do you have the engineer code? Go into engineer mode and back out again. If there are any problems it might say when you come out of engineer mode. What manufacture makes the panel?
sixwheeledbeast Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 What manufacture makes the panel? It's Scantronic equipment before the i-ON range was out. It's also known as 7510r. I had problems with the external sounder on the only one I have fitted (this was years ago when they were just released). Rain water got in through the holes in the front of the bell, fitting a PSU and a wired bell fixed that problem. IIRC that fault would disappear on entering/leaving engineering mode, only to reappear a day or so later.
9651 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 What about unlearning everything and just leave one detector.......? Go from there? Cooper stuff is a bit glitchy imo.I can think of a M750 which comes up with 'set with general fault' every time the customer comes to set it. Thing is, there is no faults as it should show you!! (normaly you have to scroll through) I've tried a power cycle, still does it. Damn red pcb thing! Next RI I'll arm myself with the laptop, download, crash the panel, then re upload..... see if that sorts it!
cretan-steve Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks once again, I have taken off all the PIR's as suggested and reprogrammed one, its has worked fine for two days, have today added a second and I will carry on until one of them causes the fault to return, if only life was that simple.... we'll see ! As for the ION 16, that would be a good call except I will have the problem with the inability of some 866 items of Coopers not talking to other 866 items, namely the 2 remote fobs and one PA unit. I will persevere for a little longer, the other attraction of the ION 16 I could mount that hidden away and use the HL75 as a decoy.
