sixwheeledbeast Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Is there an adjustable gun? Ie Staple sizes Most guns have a power lever to adjust depth. Quote
Rulland Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Have I heard somewhere that stapling cat 5 isn't recommended due to the deformation and consequent possible problems due to crosstalk etc?. Quote
norman Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Sorry I misread, I meant in relation to alarm cable Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Rulland Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Norm I was suggesting that staples are ok for 8 core etc, just that Al Yeti said he'd tried it on cat 5, and I thought I'd heard of problems possibly matey. Quote
BMES Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Hi guys, New to the forum, but thought I'd put some food for thought on here, we had our SSAIB inspection last year and got picked up on the fact that we didn't use staples. It wasn't a big issue and I think its personal preference. As already said using staples increases the risk of damaging the cable and what we've gained in clipping the cables we lose in troubleshooting! Some I guess applies to CAT5e, I did come across a company in the USA who made insulated staples for communication cabling, I'll see if I can dig out the information if anyone's interested? Quote
norman Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I remember a stable that was like a solid arch and the staple fired into it, looked bulky and expensive iirc http://www.tecratools.com/media/productImages/48121.jpg Similar to the above Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
