Doubledilbert Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I am currently installing wiring back to a zero node. From the loft to the ground floor there are two parallel conduits about 5 inches apart. I need to run alarm, network and telphone cables (cat 5). How would it be best to group them. I am currently thinking of alarm and network together with telephone seperate as the voltages are higher (90v on ring). Any advice?

Cyberprog Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 We often use Cat5 runs for telephone as well as data, and never have any issues. These often run side by side with alarm systems, but we group all of the latter apart from the electric trickery wiring...
MrHappy Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 We often use Cat5 runs for telephone as well as data, thought the norm was just put data & patch what ever was needed over it ? Mr Veritas God
Cyberprog Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 thought the norm was just put data & patch what ever was needed over it ? Yup, exactly that, it's all terminated back to patch panels and patched to whatever it needs to be. Data, Telephone, Video, Access Control, etc.

Sounds like all three could go down one hole as no mains. I will stick with my original plan.
