Lucky Boy 66 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I have added another door contact to my sterling 10. however when I do the walk test and go to set the alarm,it says that the door is open ??? I have set the zone as no5 (next on the board) and have set as "immediate" in the programme memory. I have done a continuity test on the cable and the cable and mag contact are working fine, it just says that it's open when I connect to system. Any help/advise would be great.. Thanks
james.wilson Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 if you link out the zone at the panel does the fault clear? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Lucky Boy 66 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Sorry, do you mean connect the two contacts together as if you are shorting out the circuit? I will have to try and get back to you... Not sure as the empty zones were all "omitted" previously
james.wilson Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 need to check what sort of issue it is, Yeah just loop it out in the panel and check it clearts. If it doesnt then its either a board issue, cross voltage or maybe eol (dont know this panel) securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
fozzies Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 To measure for cross voltage put your meter onto dc volts range, one probe onto earth then the other probe to firstly 0v then +12v. please post the two results here
Lucky Boy 66 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Triffic, meters just broken-gonna have to wait till tomorrow for the voltage ! however i did cross connect and the fault has cleared in the panel ??? Will post further info tomorrow
fozzies Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Looks like a panel fault/programming error then. but do get the meter on in before replacing panel, induced voltages can cause Major faults that are indestinguishable from panel faults.post your readings when u get them
james.wilson Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 yep at least you know its not the panel. How have you wired the door contact in. And what type is it? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Lucky Boy 66 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Sorted, i have taken off the tamper and the fault cleared! Now used different pair of wires for the tamper and all good Thanks again guys for your help! Currently working my way through the circuit diagram, installing sound bombs, speakers etc etc, so I may post more issues as they arise Who ever gets in uninvited will leave Deaf !!!
