gazlad78 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Hi all hoping somebody can help me out as im baffled The indoor storage in our boat club is installed with a optima xl6 and the building had a rewire about 6months ago since then the alarm hasnt worked. As soon as mains power is turned on it just bleeps franticly and will not reset batterys are new. we have two of these systems in seperate building both with exactly same fault. i dont know if somebody has fiddled with the panel when typing codes in as theres over 20 of us with acces to buildings! all sensors work red light come on when theres movement hope somebody can find time to help me as i also dont have a user manual thanks gareth
Rulland Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 The panel has a nvm, but this doesn't guarantee iit will not lose its programming-have you tried the default user code?.
gazlad78 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 hi richard thanks for quick reply ive put default code in 0123 is that correct? also im a bit blind as dont have user manual sorry to sound dumb but whats a nvm? gareth
securealarmsolutions Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 An NVM is a non-volatile memory chip. In theory this chip holds all the stored programming information in the event of power loss from both mains and battery. Sometimes the memory may be lost still though in the event of power and battery loss.
Rulland Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Correct,Non Volatile Memory, and that code or your original don't shut it up ?
gazlad78 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 nope nothing happens only light that is on is green power one and its still screeming at me
securealarmsolutions Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Try other default codes, not sure what they are for this system. try ascending and descending consecutive numbers.
james.wilson Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 0123 is the default user code. I would suggest someone has changed the code or memory is corrupted. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
gazlad78 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 ive tried alsorts of codes im starting to pull my hair out now hi james i find it strange both systems aint working tho
magpye Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 ............ and its still screeming at me That's because you've been putting in code after code after code. The panel is not seeing the correct 4 digit code, it's seeing a 8, 12, 16 etc etc code. Get the idea. The panel thinks that someone is trying to overcome it by trying different codes, quite normal, they all do it. Trick is to try 1, 2 or possibly 3 times, no more. Stop for a couple of minutes and then start again etc etc. Remember to keep a record of all the different numbers you try, saves trying them twice, or more. 0 1 2 3 is the default code for your panel. Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.
