homeowner1234 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 HI We have a cat and ADT installed our system about a year ago. We set the alarm almost daily and had no false alarms for a year. Today, I fitted some coving in a bedroom. I removed the PIR, put the coving in and re-fitted it. The coving is small meaning the existing screw hole was still visible/accessible a few cm below the bottom of the coving. However, the PIR is now pointing a bit downwards - all the other PIRs in the house are flush to the wall. The PIR certainly would appear to pick up movement around the bedroom but should I cut the coving with a knife (its the lightweight polymer stuff) ? Perhaps if I leave it as is then the cat could set it off? Visually it looks ok - its just making about a 20 degree angle with the wall. Any advice gratefully received.
sixwheeledbeast Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Put it back as it was. PIR's shouldn't be tilted down. It's more likely to false alarm, especially if it's a pet friendly one. The best option would be to get the installer to relocate, extend the wiring below the cove.

securealarmsolutions Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 More to the point, why did the alarm not go into tamper fault when the detector was removed and re-fitted to the wall!!!
