New Equipment

I'd say Scantronic used to be one of the best panels for commercial installs, especially the 9500. Texecom used to be one of the best panels for domestic installs, especially the R8+.

Looking at their product range now, though, it seems to have swapped, with the premiere 640 far out weighing the specs of the 8136.

I personally have found the Texecom panels more user and engineer friendly than the Scantronics.

Well, that's my tuppence worth

:0)

If you don't know......ask.

Hmmmmmmm Scantronic & Texecom.  Thats like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Sinclair C5.

Which one is the roller Dave lol.

Scantronic in my opinion have some quality tried and tested equipment but unfortunately they stopped advancing their panels a few years ago now.

ADE Accenta's are quite nice and easy to install. Excellent for a no frills entry level system. Plastic end-stations again though unless they have a metal option.

Sterling 10's with their polyproperlene covers that when I used them, the tamper spring wouldn't even reach the lid, seem to be a very basic system. Sure, they have an LCD but when you can pick up a Sterling 10 panel and RKP for half the price of a TS-NET-LCD keypad, suddenly alarm bells ring.

I'm a Menvier man through and through but I don't want to add another option to the already long list of panels suggested. If I was to pick from what has already been suggested, I'd have to go with the Texacom equipment. Veritas isn't all that bad but I would prefer a nice metal end-station. Premier 24 with metal end-station would be my panel of choice.

I'm not a fan of plastic end-stations as you may have guessed. Just personal preference really. Stems back to the days when I fitted hundreds of Gardtec 350's and 370's. They were so awkward when fitted on uneven walls. Buzzing transformers, tamper springs that popped off the peg on the front lid, not much room to work in ect...

I totally agree with the metal end stations point.

cheers fellas im now more confused than when i wrote the original post. Tony i made a promise to my self to avoid ade stuff for life after fitting loads of sonade boxes aka two year time bombs. I agree with you all about the software and the general un-flexability of the 9448s . So i have decided to fit veritas excells.

I still need help choosing a sounder though.

I would use either the Gardtec nova stuff or the texecom (dont know the name), because these are the only two I know of which have encapsulated electronics.

Conformally Coated is a bit of joke as far as Im concerned.
