J_G Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Customer question.... If he was broken into, and say they took his DVR, is there a piece of equipment I could install as basically a secondary DVR elsewhere in the house, so all the data was not lost. I have a Samsung SRD-1650DC DVR Thanks.
PeterJames Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Not familiar with the product, but most dvrs can be networked and some can be remotely recorded The alternative is to use a lockable box or hide the dvr
Rulland Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 This old nugget again, the amount of cctv instals I have worked on where the dvr is below the 42" lcd, av tuner , vcr and sky box, laughable!, and by an insurance policy stipulated accredited security company, hmm!.
MrHappy Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 got an even better whinge..... stood in the bar playing back the cctv in front of the punters so a memeber of staff can bitch about another memeber of staff messing with there documents ! Mr Veritas God
james.wilson Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 We use a dvr that backup alarm events or all event remotly to the cloud, but you have a finite amount of bandwidth so it needs careful setup. Scotmod Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 while id agree with the sentiment, most worries would be solved but this particular one? NCP 104 requires all recording equipment and power supplies to be tamper proof and in a secured cabinet. Secured data cabinet bolted to the floor with the power supply located inside would sufficiently secure the dvr and not invalidate any insurance claims. Would still hold recordings of the incident. However most installs have the dvrs plonked somewhere convenient and plugged into the wall...
MrHappy Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 However most installs have the dvrs plonked somewhere convenient and plugged into the wall... I reckon you'd be lucky to see 5% of dvrs in box or cab ? Mr Veritas God
