npire1 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Hi Does anyone know what has gone wrong with my Techvision TV-700-8D Dvr made by Shenzhen Techvision Co ltd . Was working for over a year and then after re booting itself a few times it will not display anything. It starts up and hard disc runs and lights flash etc but thats it. I know its a rubbish made in china unit but seems a shame to have to buy a new one unless I have to!
npire1 Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Possibly a hd failure?. I was thinking the hard disc was just for media storage ? Do you think the system operates from it?
Rulland Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 If the hd fails some dvrs just throw a wobbly on boot up and just hang.
npire1 Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Ok thanks, so should I try another hard disk? I have an old pc with a tiny hard disc in it but not sure if its compatable or I have a Samsung slim external hard drive but the connector is by usb so not sure how I will connect it ?
npire1 Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Ok so thats probably a negative on the hd! I just took out the hd from my satellite dvr (same Seagate 500gb model) and tried it in the cctv dvr and it makes no difference!
james.wilson Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 may i say that cheap stuff is cheap for a reason. If it wont boot without a hd or with a known working one its shot. Make sure the next one you get is decent and has support securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
digitalwitness Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Are you using VGA or BNC Video out? Some DVRs cannot operate both at the same time and you may need to switch the one you want on. For some reason the DVR may have factory defaulted and is now operating the other monitor output (if it has one ofcourse).
npire1 Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Thanks for the help everyone. I emailed Inesun and after exchanging a few emails the only option would be to send it back (At my cost as warranty is expired) for them to check the board. Its not worth it as you can get them for less than £100. so have ordered an AVer Nano 8ch unit to replace it. I can at least use the old HD! As for the display I was using the VGA. I have tried the BNC (AV) but as there is no display I cannot see if the BNV (AV) is selected !
