Panic Button Wiring

Hello,

I have an ancient alarm system, already fitted when we moved in 15 years ago. The control box is marked CU5100. It has two panic buttons, one near the front door, and another which ended up on a floor hidden behind a bed and never touched except on annual service. My dear wife has just decorated that room and managed to give the cable a little tug, which has disconnected some of the internal wiring leaving only one wire attached to a terminal (the red one, see below). I am getting an "Unhealthy Circuits" warning when I try to set the alarm. I have tried comparing it with the wiring on the "known good" by the front door, but I can immediately tell that is different, because the door button has more wires and the red one is not where the red is in my bedroom button. I am attaching a photo. I am sorry that it is not very clear, but hope it will do. I have red, black, yellow and blue wires. The red was still attached to the lower of the two middle terminals. Nothing was attached to any of the others. The blue was the only one which had even an exposed conductor strand remaining - I do not know if yellow and black were even attached. If anyone is able to help with can we call the two middle terminals (from the top down) "1" and "2", then refer to the other four, again from the top down as "3", "4", "5" and "6".

Many thanks in anticipation.

add the other wire (which could be any of the remaining colours) where the arrow points

or why not stimulate the economy by getting your alarm co to repair or remove the system & also invest in a decent camera :D

Many thanks,

It took me a while (and a few triggerings of the alarm), to work out how the tamper switch worked and how to re-set everything, but it is working now. It was the blue wire as it happens.

As to stimulating the economy, I am not going to argue with a man who took time to help me, but I my service contract is with a Major National Company. My last service bill (August) was £142 including the VAT for the 15 minutes taken in this bungalow. In 2005 I paid an additional £84 for supply and replacement of a basic PIR found faulty on service. A replacement battery was £42 last year. Now I am in business too, and I pay up every year without complaint, but I did not fancy the cost of an Easter callout if I could fix it - which with your prompt assistance I did. As to the camera - the user is worse than the hardware, but the unit is in a very awkward place.

Thanks again.
