Advice Needed On A System For Separate Garage.

Hello, this is my first post.

I'm an electrician with a basic level of knowledge about intruder alarms.

We are building a new double garage in the walled courtyard behind our garden, which is going to house my valuable kit including my car, van, tools, workshop and other items.

The garage has full power and light and allowance for a separate MCB way for a panel supply

The garage will have no personal door, nor will it have any windows in the side walls (planning permission issues). There are two 7ft 6 steel up and over garage doors and a velux roof window; these are the obvious point of attacks. Because of the walled courtyard arrangement on our estate, the garage is largely out of sight from our house and the neighbours, so we need to defend against the thief who may work undisturbed in the shared courtyard area.

The house is very new and has a Visonic system fitted that I don't want to touch. Due to the distance from the house to the garage and wanting to keep the systems separate, I want to install a system in the garage that can be left fully armed at all times and not have any impact at all on the operation of the house system, so my family have no fuss at all. No part set is needed, just fully armed or unset.

As there will be no personal door to use as a entry/exit zone, the two garage doors are the most vulnerable points of attack and I don't want to increase this vulnerability by using either as a timed entry zone. My thought is that I need a panel that can be paired up to a weatherproof external prox tag reader or a radio control fob.

The up and over doors will each have a roller shutter contact, the velux window will have a Viper and magnetic contact on the frame and the garage might have an infra red curtain across the inside of the garage door openings. The garage will have a bell box near the roof apex that can be seen and heard from the kitchen window and another facing out into the courtyard towards the neighbours house.

Do I need to take any particular precautions to avoid problems with near by Visonic panels that are all on remote fobs?

Is there a recommended panel that would give me the above entry/exit setting arrangements and only six or eight zones, to allow simplicity of set up?

Can anyone tell me if adding vipers or other shock detectors to the garage door frames will likely to be troublesome?

Thanks

Ian

No you shouldnt.

plenty but your prox point removes them. Simple would be something like an optima gen4 or accenta.

You could add a simple set proximity reader to the optima / accenta but they are internal units so you would need to mount it in a weatherproof box. id also tamper it

if the doors vibrate etc then yes. if not then no

castle euro mini with the external prox reader. you could also connect an output from the panel to a visonic universal transmitter mounted in a waterproof box outside facing the house if the range is close enough so the garage alarm triggers the house alarm on a 24hr zone.
