james.wilson
It does strike me as slightly odd that some talk of paying decent money for a decent service yet are bypassing that service they claim is essential as a seller. jb-eye
as in the old fashioned in print thought the post ? Yep It does strike me as slightly odd that some talk of paying decent money for a decent service yet are bypassing that service they claim is essential as a seller. If well when wireless is stable from china and with decent battery life etc then are your customers just gonna do the same? Its a downward spiral. the markets dictate. Problem with UK is we have firemen on £35k delivering leaflets and testing residential smokes. this could be done for minimum rate. The kit i buy from the UK manufacturer(loose term) is actualy made in china, The kit i buy from china i sell for exactly the same money as i would if buying from ADI or Norbain. The difrence is not in the quality its in the profit. Now i and you both know that its only a ,matter of time before the rest of the zoo cotten on and decide that profit = rip off and charge nothing more than to cover a bit of grass to lie on and the promise of hay and water to sustain. Adi
Adi, I didn't mean Adata are the only ones who sell it, I meant they are so cheap not worth ordering messing about going direct IMO. We don't use enough of it for it to be worth it. We use adata for baluns and cheapo eyeball type domes, pay about £1.50 per pair of baluns and about £34 for a varifocal 600tvl dome. take it thats one of them nextchip ***** jobby's. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
alterEGO
take it thats one of them nextchip ***** jobby's. Can't remember tbh, give a decent image for low end. Like anything you pay your money and you take your chance, but they are no worse than the other tat out there, but they do cost less. As for the baluns, can't fault them. Has anyone tried the winner 5 AV that A-data flog?
MrHappy
ain't there a certian value of kit you can import before your looking at vat & import duty ? Mr Veritas God
PeterJames
dont get me wrong i have also suffered with some real ****. Hmm bit like buying from a uk company only diffrence is its not worth the price of the return postage. if you think about it we all sell a product including our installation. So we could say assembled in the UK to sound patriotic same as all our suppliers claim. I like Chinese food and there's a great takeaway in Portslade 10 mile away expensive, twice the price of the Chinese round the corner but worth it. Personally I would rather pay a bit more and go a bit further, wait a little longer, for decent food. I reckon most sensible people do, but there are still lots of people that wont thats why the Chinese round the corner hasnt gone bang But its full of fat chavs
jb-eye
ain't there a certian value of kit you can import before your looking at vat & import duty ? There is. I buy my hockey kit from USA. Its flown West caost to East then up to the northfowarded on to Germany final flight to Birmingham before being transported by road to Old Trafford where i am notified of Duty and Tax before being released to me. I still save about 30% on the SAME kit bought in the UK. And Guess where its all made? You got it CHINA.Today i ordered a 4 way GOIP from China for £300 via ebay. Chances are it will end up on my door step with a nil tax but even with a 50% mark up these perform better than a UK product that is more than twice that price. Customers! james.wilson
I bet it dont. (ie perform better) than a decent one. But. A lot of stuff is made in china yes. Decent stuff is too. The big brands get stuff made there to a certain spec. This is different, very very different to tat that is available. That is usally made to a price. ie as cheap as possible. Quality is not high on the list. I dont think anyone can say that all stuff made in china or anywhere for that matter is equal. The skill i suppose is sorting the **** from the cream. Most of it is cheap **** sold in a similar housing to something decent. The dvr guys will know more but wont probably post for fear of being accused of the same thing members say on here when a newbie asks for a cheap fix. MrHappy
I buy my hockey kit from USA. Not a personal attack but IMHO the accreditations & approvals that you hold should place you in the position where getting the kit talyor made even if you have to fly the chap into measure your inside leg would be done w/o question. Its a low rent industry, my cleints bitch & moan about a grand for alarm. I want to spend more than 6k +vat with Arval & they can't be f#cked to return the call Mr Veritas God
james.wilson
we need to accept we have as an industry destroyed the 'skilled' aspect and either move on, look at different sectors within, ignore the trend and carry on being specialists or get out.
