One Set Of Relay Contacts, 2 Functions.

Probably a pretty basic question for the pros here but if I have an external PIR with one set of alarm contacts, how could I trigger the alarm input on a DVR and trigger a relay to turn on a flood at the same time?

I'm thinking if I wire them up at the same time in parallel on this single pair of contacts, something's going to blow...

there are lots of little pcb's on fleabay ect...

which can have there inputs connected to trigger a number of output which are electrically separate, just need to be the right voltage for your application

Use the PIR relay to energise a double, triple or even quad pole relay, or more than one if voltage seperation etc is a problem,so long as ratings are ok you can turn multiple things on with it then.

Double pole relay would do it

So a sort of relay cascade type thing? I imagine that would mean a 12v supply running to the relay coil via the NO contact of the detector?

Had a look on fleabay under "dual relay" but I can't see anything that might do (never was any good with that place).

Just thought of something else, these are the Texecom Prestige TDs and I can't see any way of adjusting the alarm output time. Since part of the use is to trigger the flood lights, if it's a momentary trigger the flood will just go straight off again.

Found this from GJD, http://www.gjd.co.uk/products/security-lighting/multiswitch-3000/ which looks quite handy but added to the price of each detector I may as well get some Watchouts etc

Any thoughts on this?

does a range of stuff, I also expect being Bulgarian they could sort you with the stuff for cash machine fraud, a gang of street urchins for pick pocketing & a good looking but hairy woman.

lol @ MrH, I'm going to smear them with glue and sprinkle them with glitter just for you and take a photo which will become my forum pic :D

Thanks for the links and I understand now exactly how to go about this. I can see that this is going to take a bit more "mucking about" than originally anticipated and although an interesting process, it's for my new place of work and I don't have a lot of free time for this what with all the other work going on.

So it's a case of paying the price for ready made stuff to save time. What's the simplest way to achieve this, whilst not considering cost? (too much, I can't justify Redwalls!).

On the house I have Dtect2s and a Dygizone system but the Dygizone is surplus to needs quite honestly, it's just acting as an elaborate timer for the floods.

I need:

  • A timed flood activation after dusk
  • A 24 hour available CCTV alarm output controlled by an output on a Galaxy G2
  • A pet tolerant external detector.

Maybe I should stick with the Texecom TDs for the CCTV output but install those floods with a cheapo built in detector/timer?

What think ye?
