garnayrob Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on alarm system design for my 10x8 garden office (timber) with 2 glass opening windows and an opening door (also with glass). I know a bit about alarms and happy to install, just want some clarification. Looking to install 1 x dual tech PIR (to cope with heat imbalance when sun is on windows). How would this work being the only zone? I'm not intending on adding any other sensors as I beleive the PIR will provide all the protection needed. Can you have a 1 zone PIR alarm system? Not quite sure what systems would support this - I guess I'd need a short entry delay. Ideally would be great to disarm remotely, but want a fairly professional solution and not a Yale style DIY kit. Budget of up to £200 - also want internal and external sounder. What is the best kit for the job? Rob.
james.wilson Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Personally I'd put a contact on the entry door. Then you can delay the dual tec only after door opening Disarming from a remote will need a high end panel which you really don't need As its diy I'd use Control panel honeywell optima compact Dualtech honeywell dt 7550 or 7450 Door contact knight or cqr grade 1 surface Sounder whatever you want securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

garnayrob Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 Another one perhaps for your James! Just need some guidance on wiring the DT7550 to the ADE Gen 4 panel before I power up. On the PIR I have wired up as follows to the panel - please correct me if wrong. TBL = n/a TBL = n/a T1 = TAMP T2 = TAMP EOL = n/a C = Zone 2 Test = n/a NC = Zone 2 V- = 0V V+ = +13v Is this correct? Also do any of the jumper or dip switch settings need changing from default? Currently: FAULT (RF) = F (EOL 3K) TAMPER (RT) = A (EOL 1K) ALARM (RA) = A (EOL 1K) Dip Switch 1 = ON (High Sensitivity) Dip Switch 2 = ON (LED Enabled) Dip Switch 3 = ON (Anti-mask Reset 1 Alarm). Thanks for your help Rob.
sixwheeledbeast Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Wiring looks correct. The dip switches can be left. The jumpers will need setting for double pole (no resistors). I haven't got information handy but this will probably be no jumpers installed.
norman Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Not sure I'd leave it on high sens, needs walk testing first to ensure correct coverage Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
james.wilson Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 As above I wouldn't put it on high and you need the jumpers set for double pole mode securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
garnayrob Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 guys, much appreciated. Disabiling the integrated EOL resistors is all jumpers off - so I shall remove them. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and wishing you a good start to the week
garnayrob Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 Guys, quick help if possible - I've wired everything up however the external siren keeps sounding even with cover on (tamper switch active) and control panel powered up. I've wired up as follows from siren to panel, is anything wrong? STROBE+ on panel = n/a on siren STROBE- on panel = ST on siren SCT(T) on panel = R on siren SCB(A) on panel = V- on siren BEK+ on panel = V+ on siren Bell - on panel = SW on siren
