rfhead Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 hi all i have a veritas r8 panel and lcd keypad when pressing the pa button and triggering the alarm the keypad gives out an audible alarm until the code is entered or panel reset what i wanted to know is, is it possible to disable this ? i would like the alarm to be as silent as possible there is no outside or internal bell box sounders connected etc just a gsm dialer i would prefer no sounds from the keypad if the pa button is activated or if the alarm is activated, is this possible thanks jay
norman Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 You could connect the PA direct to the dialler, bypassing the panel. in the manual it will say if there is an option for silent pa. doubt it with alarm activations on an R8 but stand to be corrected Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Lwillis Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Had a quick look at the manual can't find a silent pa option .
rfhead Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 You could connect the PA direct to the dialler, bypassing the panel. in the manual it will say if there is an option for silent pa. the dialler needs a negative trigger to activate i checked the manual and it seems you can only select silent pa option when using the communicator
Lwillis Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Make the pa push to make instead of push to break . And loop a neg from aux out through the pa circuit onto the dialler
rfhead Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Make the pa push to make instead of push to break . And loop a neg from aux out through the pa circuit onto the dialler lol that's a clever idea ) but also forgot i need it silent on activation too i want to catch the person breaking in on site rather than alarm going off and scaring them away also hence the need for a silent activation suppose i could remove the sounder from the keypad
norman Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Why would you want to apprehend them and risk injury? better to scare them off surely? Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
rfhead Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Why would you want to apprehend them and risk injury? better to scare them off surely? because I'm sure it is a family member
norman Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 better with covert temp cctv then. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Oxo Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Someone deleting posts? Pretty sure I posted f you disable the sounder you lose entry/exit tones too.
