Hi all I've had a good search round the forum on this subject but haven't found any recent topics on this subject so hope no one minds me asking again!

Is there anyone out there succesfully using a usb to rs232 converter to use a tsdci lead on the old menvier ts range?

I did try this years ago with several usb to serial converters but always hit a brick wall! I am just looking to buy a new laptop and would really like not to have to carry 2 laptops around! I'm sure there must be a way of getting this working I just lack the tecnical knowledge! ;)

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Use a USB to serial for galaxy and Guardall normally on com port 1 or 2.

Usually only a few to pick from but if you go into device manager it will tell you which port it using

I find on my Toshiba the Serial USB works best on the upper left hand port (Port 6).

As above device manager will tell you where it is.

Also Maplin USB to Serial seem to be more reliable - for me anyway. Yet to fail me in Securakey (Nasty American stuff (lol)) XFP-Fire panels and VX2000 access and of course Galaxy to name a few. Never used it, even on the TS22/2500. As you know new M Series is USB A to B anyway.

PS if any get to use Securakey, call me for assistance. I ended up training the importers :turtle:

This is a good point some USB ports may not like your convertor.

I have trouble with the rear ports on my laptop but the side one's are fine.

Worth trying all the USB port's.

So it may be my lack of technical knowledge then.... ;)

I do remember messing around with all the com port settings with no luck and Menvier tech saying it had to be a true serial port to work!

Are there any particular makes to look out for or has anyone found any that don't work?
