energysolutions Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Hi Guys I`m looking for some pointers on which kit would best fit my needs To give some background on the application, I require an IP rated (preferably vandal proof) day/night dome camera to be fitted onto a pillar at the end of the clients drive, this camera will be approximately 250m (so too far for the new HD SDI or IP cameras) from the house/DVR and is wired in cat 5e. The camera will hopefully serve 3 purposes: 1) To view the general area at the end of the drive 2) To visually identify anyone that comes to use the intercom (which is sited beside the camera) 3) To (hopefully) identify any number plates that may use the drive With this in mind it needs to be decent quality, I tried another dome which was recommended by a company local to me and was a major let down but they did eventually refund hence the need for a replacement Samsung domes keep catching my eye and appear to be decent quality/good spec (is this accurate?) So far Ive looked at the following: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TC91-SAMSUNG-SIR-4250SP-HI-RES-520TVL-VARIFOCAL-DAY-NIGHT-IR-DOME-CAMERA-/300723004990?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item46047ce63e http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/G7K-SAMSUNG-SCV-2081R-IR-VANDAL-PROOF-DOME-CAMERA-600TVL-3-6x-VARIFOCAL-LENS-/250890520471?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3a6a3d8797 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/G7I-SAMSUNG-SVD-4300P-1-4-HI-RES-DAY-NIGHT-VANDAL-PROOF-10X-ZOOM-DOME-CAMERA-/261010631901?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3cc5722cdd http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAMSUNG-SCV-2081R-IR-VANDAL-PROOF-IP66-OUTDOOR-WEATHERPROOF-CCTV-DOME-CAMERA-BNC-/310407652256?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item4845bce3a0 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IS01-SAMSUNG-SCV-2080R-600TVL-CCTV-SECURITY-DOME-CAMERA-/120792703775?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item1c1fce631f As I have zero experience with this brand or any of these cameras can anyone guide me as to which would be best (they all have similar/good spec), or indeed if there is another camera anyone feels would be better suited I`m all ears Thanks in advance
james.wilson Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 you can get ip to work as far as you like but not with std ethernet. HD-sdi optical baluns etc are also available. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
energysolutions Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 you can get ip to work as far as you like but not with std ethernet. HD-sdi optical baluns etc are also available. Are you referring to fibre optic? Or using repeaters at 100M intervals Where can I get more info on HD-sdi baluns? Do they simply fit inline at either end of the cat5e like normal baluns do?
james.wilson Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I don't think there is a cat5 balun for hdsdi yet, but yes I was refering to fibre securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
energysolutions Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 So which is better - IP or HDSDI? And how hard/expensive is fibre to install?
nexlar Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Samsung SED-1001R brings you the high resolution recording and durability in a dome design. The dome design makes it difficult for intruders to tell which direction the camera is recording. The cover helps with glaring and offers an extra layer of protection against the elements. SED-1001R are designed for indoor use. SED-1001R also record at a 520TVL resolution, producing crisp and clear recordings.
Oxo Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 So which is better - IP or HDSDI? And how hard/expensive is fibre to install? Fibre is easy to install, its the connecting and splicing thats the tricky bit http://www.lanshack.com/fiber-optic-tutorial-termination.aspx
sixwheeledbeast Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Fibre is easy to install, its the connecting and splicing thats the tricky bit Can be bought pre-terminated, tho.
Oxo Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 True. Cost ratio though is higher. Mind you not jointed fibre for yrs. Was at Fujiqura (?) think that`s right, training school. Got a few "free lessons" for sorting out a TS2500 for them.
sixwheeledbeast Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Fujikura Chessington? Was looking into fibre training, didn't decide if it was worth it or not.
