Touran daddy Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Hi everyone, first request for help please. Moved in to our house with the above fitted and no codes as per normal. Lady said she never used it. Had the battery replaced and found the install instructions in the main panel! Anyway, the alarm man reset the panel using mode 1 and then mode 2 I think he said. He tested the alarm and pirs/door contact but then he got stumped as he tried to add codes. When using the master code to add codes, we chose user 2 as I believe 1 is always the master code and wanted to keep that handy. Then put a new code in, selected user then back to menu. After exiting the menu it seems the control box didn't accept the new code as it did not do anything. I've since had a play in engineer mode to change exit times etc but instead of getting the -- for new figures all I get is > in front of the value but nothing will change it? Is this finger trouble or a box problem. The alarm works fine on default settings when set using the master code but for security it would be nice to change them? Any ideas? Thanks Jez Quote
Alarm Protection Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 IMO the alarm engineer should have defaulted the system and reprogrammed. Quote !

Touran daddy Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Good evening gents, I've revisited my problem above from 3 years ago as I believe it's time to get this thing fixed or changed. I found the original install manual from 1993 and in it is says 'Mode 1 reset, remove the link LK1 to access default codes, replace link before re-programming function' I had the cover off and found LK1 link not fitted so as I understand I have access to default codes which is how it works at the moment. I down powered and fitted the link on LK1, on application of either BAT or mains or both the lcd keypad showed EEPROM error, press any key, but with the link in the keypad was unresponsive. Removing the link made the keypad respond to press any key and it powered up showing version number and then 'unset' with a reset time and date. A little more reading of other manuals seems to suggest I need to leave the link out until a get to entering a new user code and then put it back in for the final yes press? Anyone know the correct sequence of events I can use to get user codes in and whether the link on LK1 should always be fitted in normal operation and only removed to get default ENG and Master access? RichL Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Have you got the link back on the right set of pins? Iirc there were two pairs close together. It's such an old panel though I'd suggest you don't spend any more cash on it, upgrade time. Touran daddy Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Thanks RichL The only other link near was LK2 an inch below. Left the link off for now as I found it in case the thing goes off so I can silence it. Will try again tomorrow and see if putting the link back on once in master code/programming will allow programming and functioning. Other than that it does sound like new panel and SAB. Quote
james.wilson Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I don't know the panel but is this a defaulting thread? Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
datadiffusion Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) That must be one of the earliest 800s I've seen in the wild, they were a great panel in their day but frankly a 9651 would be a fitting, and budget, replacement giving you all the same features, assuming proper monitoring and no more than 8 zones are involved. Look at it this way op, how much time and money would you throw at a 1993 washing machine, TV or car? Touran daddy Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 guys, Appreciate the feedback. I know what you mean about changing it out and defaulting it is not the issue as I have carried by t the reset using the LK1 link and 1 9 yes no. I couldn't get any user codes to accept and then found LK1 not jumped like the manual says it should be, so refitted but couldn't get the keypad to respond. Nothing in the original 93 install instructions about when to fit it. Guess it's new panel and sounder time as they are 20 years old too! Quote
