charlieman Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Hi guys, Firstly, i'm new to the forum so hello Secondly, I am trying to change the 4 digit code on a Siemens k42 codelock. Unfortunately I failed at the first hurdle; having put in the key and turned fully to unlock the housing, two or three tiny gold/bronze coloured pins fell out - which I haven't managed to replace and now I cant lock the housing back up (the key just turns in the cylinder). Can anyone offer some advice here - I'm a newbie so dont really know what i'm doing - despite reading the limited instructions which don't mention the key/pins/cylinder at all! I am based in Brighton if anyone is local and could help. Charlie
MrHappy Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 the "pins" make up the numbers of the code(s) & the lock prevents any anybody from changing the code. Chances are if you can't relock the keypad its broken as they not really that hard to secure? Mr Veritas God
Oxo Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 You can buy the lock. It is called a radial cylinder, I think it is still listed as a spare part. Trouble is there are not that many key differs. This is not the most secure unit on the market and this is the time to think about upgrading. Here you go a spare cylinder. http://www.buythis.c...tid=148&offset= Personally I would upgrade. I will not go into the full resasons but I would not use it on my shed.
charlieman Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Thanks for your replies MrHappy and Oxo, I'll let you know how I get on. I suspect I might upgrade the unit altogether as you suggest.
