grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Hi, Hoping someone can help. We've had a couple false alarms during the day for the past two days running - both in the same zone. I'm starting with basics and trying to establish what zones relate to which rooms in the house, and see if I can work out what is triggering the sensor. Unfortunately I can't find original user manual and don't know if installer noted down which zones relate to which rooms. Is there anyway to find this out? I've tried doing the walk test but the panel only displays the room names and not the zones! I also thought that if I went through the event log and pressed the tick key when the activation record was displayed would give me details of the room, but no, just the zone. Thanks
Oxo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 So it does give a zone. Trip it and that one only. Then check the log.
grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 OK, specifics may help a bit here and perhaps my original post was a bit confusing. Zone 2 is being triggered, but I have no idea which room in the house is Zone 2. When I do the walk test the panel will display hall, lounge, kitchen, etc but no zone numbers.
Oxo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 So set and trip one room then go through the log.
grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Right, thanks. Was hoping it could be done without triggering alarm but guessed right first time so not too bad. Absolutely no idea what is triggering the sensor, went yesterday after alarm was set for 2 hours after we left for work, and today was 5 hours after setting in the morning. After going all the way through the log, all the false alarms we get are in same zone (lounge). Where to look first?
PeterJames Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Usually the hall will be zone two so test/trip that one first
james.wilson Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 cover the sensor over completly to find out if its an environmental issue (something in the lounge) or equipment related. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Thanks - Zone 2 is the lounge. No idea what is triggering the sensor in the middle of the day though.
james.wilson Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 anything changed in that room, anything at all? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Oxo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Dont be tempted to open the main panel, there is mains present and most likely on engineer reset for tamper. Who installed it? Why not give them a call? ?? How do you know zone 2 is the lounge now?
