grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 cover the sensor over completly to find out if its an environmental issue (something in the lounge) or equipment related. The equipment seems fine in that it sets OK in the mornings and at night (and doesn't seem to trigger during the night), but can't explain any environmental issue that might cause it to trigger during the middle of the day.
PeterJames Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Is it about the same time every day? If so where would the sun be in relation to the room at that time?
grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Dont be tempted to open the main panel, there is mains present and most likely on engineer reset for tamper. Who installed it? Why not give them a call? ?? How do you know zone 2 is the lounge now? I set the alarm with the mrs sat still in the lounge and me still in the hall by the panel. She moved, the alarm triggered, the panel said zone 2. I'll give the installers a call tomorrow - its probably due an annual service anyway. Thanks.
Oxo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Probably for the best if it is still under warranty. Or a maintenance agreement. Not bought a cat or a Parrot by any chance?
grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Is it about the same time every day? If so where would the sun be in relation to the room at that time? I thought about this, but it was 09:30 yesterday and 13:00 today. I've also tried waving the curtains a bit to mimic a strong gust coming through the trickle vents in the windows - not enough to trigger the sensor though. You acutally need to move about a fair amount to trigger the sensor in the lounge.
Oxo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Had that before, low winter sun striking a detector. A DT sorted that out.
grantsteve Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Not bought a cat or a Parrot by any chance? Ha! no. The alarm is the one thing that I am using to hold out against the mrs who is desperate to get a cat! Had that before, low winter sun striking a detector. A DT sorted that out. DT?
Oxo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Dual Tech as opposed to a Pir, And the sun in relation to those times would be relative in elevation at this time of year. Get them to mask the detector and see if it stabilizes. After doing the usual checks, or ask for a DT. You`ll pay though unless you have a all inclusive agreement.
sixwheeledbeast Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 As James cover the sensor temporarily to see if environmental. This could save you time and money in the long run, due to potentially pre-diagnosing the fault. If the sensor false alarms while covered there is something wrong. Draft down a chimney? New fireplace? New air-brick? Mice? Etc.. etc...
