Rulland Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 No disrespect to anyone here, but having an engineer code and a manual doesn't make the OP an alarm technician imo. If someone cannot grasp the basics of a resistor in the panel-then really they should not be attempting diy additions-they clearly are in above their depth.
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I however am not going to try and guide someone through one step by step. Neither am I. I was pointing out that you shouldn't need to find the resistors with that sensor. If you can't work it out with(out) the manual, time to call someone in.
Oxo Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I agree, did not look at the sensor until you mentioned it and saw what it was.
Tony-Y Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Hi guys This is my 1st post on this site I am not a security installer just a home owner who needs some advice I have a scant tonic security sys that is configured for FSL Lounge sensor keeps setting the alarm off with the message lounge tamper! I was told to change the 4k resistor which I have done this solves the problem but only for several weeks when I have to change the resistor again. Can some one tell me why do I need a new sensor? Regards T
Oxo Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Try soldering the cable to the resistors and then fit nice and tightly. Make sure there are no shorts to ground or power.
Tony-Y Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Does it matter if the 12 v wire are crossed ?
Oxo Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 If you cannot understand the significance of what you have just said you need to stop, have a think and call someone in.
Tony-Y Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Yes I do understand the difference between ac and dc current. Not sure of the nuances of crossing pos and neg. If you can't help at least try to be less condescending Thanks T
Oxo Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 I`m not. What I am doing is stopping you at the minimum going through a box of fuses. And we were not talking about AC Voltage as far as I know. Current is what is drawn by the device. I suggest you re-read post #17.
