norman Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Even with eas/rfid they will soon cotton on to removing the tags. Need to be secured on site with controlled access to them and randomised searches. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
MrHappy Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Rubbish (with respect) ... how exactly? I assume a walk though metal detector would sense a phone being taken though booth ? Mr Veritas God
digitalwitness Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Rubbish (with respect) ... how exactly? How about asking first before saying rubbish! In a previous life (quality assurance) came across a company that had to devise an inspection to ensure that batteries were included In the final package, iirc they did this threw some sort of capacitance detection. This may not work with modern phone batteries but when you consider a battery as a typical component in bomb making, there are surely detection methods. But the point here is that detecting a retail packaged phone box with all accessories is a different prospect than detecting just a phone (I.e. no battery, charger, etc with all packaging removed).
Cubit Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 I assume a walk though metal detector would sense a phone being taken though booth ? That's what they use at a security oriented depot we look after - along with very frequent random searches.
Oxo Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 As I had mentioned a X-ray/ metal detector, random searches. Remember you are advised you should not recieve a phone that has its packaging seal removed. So tags could would be seen and removed. Random search set to 65% and contracts/agreements in place for searches as in various premesis I have worked on.
norman Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Been in a well known chain today and had to throw a dice before I left, odd numbers were searched. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
norman Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 As always I threw a six.... Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
norman Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Well, it was a 4 actually but either way I wasn't searched which was a shame as she was bang tidy. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
