Guest Guest_Rigid Raider_* Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Grateful if anybody can help with this. An electrician working on the house nipped a wire setting off a "tamper" alarm. My wife constantly re-set and re-set the panel until eventually everything went dead. On advice from a pal we disconnected mains and battery, left it for an hour then reconnected. Now the system refuses to arm, all four zone lights go on and the tamper light as well. All PIRs are dead with no flashing or clicking. No idea what the "Concept System" is or who made it, knowing the previous owner of the house it's something cheap and naff. Any suggestions apart from "call a professional" ? Thanks!
norman Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Hi, It sounds like you have popped a fuse, (probably the auxiliary one) If you feel confident enough, fix the cable and replace the fuse....alternativeley.... "call a professional" ? Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
CompostCORNER Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Wasn't the Concept one of those old Optima ADE type panels with the remote keypad? I seem to remember the name 'Concept 7' which used something like 10 cores to the RKP but did support 1 zone from the keypad. Installed one or two but over 10 years ago now. I think they later revised the system to use a 6 core for the RKP but that would still be 8 or 9 years ago. Tony
Guest RICHL Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 It was the concept 4 which need 12 cores to the keypad. Years ago it was an ideal budget keypad based system, but what a pig it was getting the lid on the keypad with all that wiring

Even the code was still 0123 when we moved in.
Guest RICHL Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 During the hour when it was powered down did the outside sounder go off at all?
Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 During the hour when it was powered down did the outside sounder go off at all? 21504[/snapback] No. Should it have done? We disconnected the little battery inside the control box. I opened it last night to find the fuse and was not impressed. It looked like a cheapo circuit board out of a kid's toy witha rat's nest of unused wires all stuffed into a cheap polystyrene case. Could an expert fit new hardware while utilising the existing wiring circuits?

It probably needs a new battery - but it may be worth upgrading the bell, and installing something more modern? Yes - a professional could utilise the existing wiring to upgrade the panel. That is assuming the wiring is in good condition, the detectors are suitably located etc. It is certainly worth having someone round to quote for it. Did you manage to find / replace the fuse? What was the result? D7

Guest RICHL Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Are the buttons on the keypad flat or raised?
