Ronnie Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 wonder if this applied to us Distributors If you sell batteries from the UK on a professional basis to an end-user (either the public or businesses) in an individual store, over the internet or via mail order, you are classed as a distributor. From 1 February 2010, distributors of portable batteries/accumulators who sell over 32kg of portable batteries per year in an individual store must provide free in-store battery take-back facility for any member of the public who has some batteries to dispose of.

Oxo Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 What a set of tossers. Its hard to believe what goes on these days. Totally agree. What it is, is a stealth tax again. You seen the price to dispose of soil.........yep common ordinary soil. You get a fair amount when you fit some gates and fencing. £175 per Tonne to tip, try adding that to a tight quoute. To the other point raised, you go to the waste site and seperate if not already done so the waste. And Mr Waste management worker tips it all into the same container lorry. As for the battery "dump" in store. How may of you have a shop/showroom that sells them? Less than 95% of you I guess. You may have an argument for not having to comply on that one. But you do need a waste licence to carry them. As you are trade. So that bit won`t work James. And now if they get a sniff of trade waste ina car its a £300 fine at minimum. If you take a van (un sign written) you need to have no trade waste and a current CT bill.
reidy Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 We just gather a big pile of them together and give them to some scrappy, think we got £20 for the last lot Hey Ho, Lets Go
Oxo Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 But you now need an auit trail, to be kept for 2 yrs at minimum.
norman Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 yup, and the reason registration is free is to reel you all in for when they start to charge. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
