Lol Thanks Oxo.

A quick question for you all, I have been working as a Mobile Patrol Officer for the last 5 yrs and after dealing with alarm systems and seeing what the Engineers do close up it is really a career i'ld love to get involved in, I am 36 so would say an apprenticeship is out of the question, I would rather do a course and training but have no idea on what course would qualify me to become an Intruder Alarm Service/Installer Engineer, any help would be much appreciated, thanks. Kirk.

P.S I am currently unemployed hence making a new start.

Hi and welcome

If you have some basic electronics skills then send out your CV to all the local companies near you. You may be lucky myself and my previose co have often taken on mature trainees, assuming that you are keen and willing to work for peanuts for a while

Hi there, with reference to C+G 1852, you could try this book as a starter, it'll certainly help you get some kip!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intruder-Alarms-Gerard-Honey/dp/0750681675/

Just bear in mind it was written before the very latest regs (PD6662 2010) but is the most recent (only recent)

text book out there that can be read by an absolute starter.

Whatever you do why not have a look on fleebay and have a play with an old system, like a basic scantronic / texecom

thats going cheap? Appreciate funds might be tight but worth it when you approach a co. and then you can have some

idea what you are talking about before you even start.

And welcome to the forums

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

I remember reading that book at college a few years ago. Was quite helpful with the course.

Still nothing beats hands on learning tho, still learn everyday ( well somedays lol)

Good luck with it ,anything we can do to help let us know :)
