Oxo Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Raspberry Pi looks fun. Might buy one and see what you can do with it.
Joe Harris Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Raspberry Pi looks fun. Might buy one and see what you can do with it. The lad is loving his - More so since they released Minecraft for it a few days ago lol.... I am going to be organising something soon to get people sponsoring them for local schools, the idea is that people can bung any amount in towards one or buy 100 - whatever suits them, they will be sent to schools local to the contributions with only one instruction: Do something cool with them. The schools love them as they are cross curricular (Design and make a case, use it for ICT / Science projects etc).. Should be a laugh - Maybe we can call it "The Great TSI Raspberry Pi Campaign" if JW buys enough of 'em
james.wilson Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I can start a collection from pledges if you like Joe, then once we have a figure negotiate for how many we can buy securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
norman Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Ironically my son has just signed up for his options next year and has chosen computer science as a course where they programme down to code level. He asked me this morning if he could buy one to have a play with. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Oxo Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I`ll pledge for one in that case. And one pre-programmed SD card. I assume we can choose which schools they go to, ahh just re-read "they will be sent to schools local to the contributions" oops. They do sell the cases but the reciepients could as mentioned use it as another project. Do they still let them work with perspex and heat? We used to weld and cast at my old school. Were also taught wood and metal work alongside Technical Drawing. TD was good, used to strip down generators and draw the parts to scale ect.

Not sure if the health and safety police let them do it anymore. We used to be allowed to but that's 16 years ago. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
