sixwheeledbeast Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 last issue I have is the door mag I've wired it to the rkp and mapped it to a zone not being used in the panel but I think I've got my wiring wrong because it doesn't like it. I'm wiring it using 4 wires as the rkp has AA TT I've wired the alarm pair to the two silver screws and twisted the tamper pair together and wired it to a gold screw. Can anyone shed any light on this ?Wiring sounds correct. Since we know you have a meter. Check resistance on the alarm pair with the door open and then closed. The zone on the panel you have mapped to must be programmed in. Also could check view zone status again on this zone. Plus as Fozzies zone should be Double Pole/EOL
Ctaylor Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 I thought that was double pole/eol But I also tried it as normally closed "The zone on the panel you have mapped to must be programmed in." What does this mean? The zone status says tamper > 65k and does nothing when door is open and closed

fozzies Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 The tamper reading should be more like 1 - 2 ohms. You mentioned pairs in your cable, do you have the whites swapped over in your twisted pair cable?
sixwheeledbeast Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 You mentioned pairs in your cable, do you have the whites swapped over in your twisted pair cable?I am hoping alarm cable has been used and NOT cat5 or CW?
matthew.brough Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I am hoping alarm cable has been used and NOT cat5 or CW? What's wrong with cat5? If its good enough to be used for computers it most be more than good enough for alarms! I was that surprised when I'd seen sparks wire a whole school in cat5 inc detectors we just walked away following the above explanation. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
Ctaylor Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 It's programmed as entry exit 1 as default and that why I'm using zone 1 for the door mag as it made sense that most if the settings wouldn't need changing. I'm going to pick up the tester from the in laws now. And gonna double check the wiring in the key pad and mag again Appreciate the advice and help. It 6 core alarm wire I'm using

However not relevant as OP has used 6 core, so all is well
Ctaylor Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Just had a thought. Would the panel support the 4 wire config that I have done on the keypad as the panel premiar 24 doesn't have the AA TT set up just AA. Would I need to put resistor in the door mag and wire it with two wires on the outside a and t on the keypad?
sixwheeledbeast Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Would I need to put resistor in the door mag and wire it with two wires on the outside a and t on the keypad? No, you can wire Double Pole from keypads on a Premier 24.
