Terraced House - Wireless Or Wired / Approx Costs?

Hi All,

I've had a look around and the wireless topics seem fairly old, and I would've hoped the Tech has moved on. So i hope it's ok to post a new topic.

Really hoping some of you can offer advice as I've been reading uip on this for a while and I'm getting pretty confused!

The House/Requirements

It is a mid terraced house in North London. It's in the middle of a long terrace, so the back of the house is not easily accessible. We have two cats which are locked in the rear room at night/when we are away. We are currently renovating the house.

The house has three floors; ground, 1st, and a loft extension.

I think I would need:

Contacts/Vibration Sensors: Front door, bay windows x 3, rear bifold door, 1st floor rear windows x2.

PIRs: Front hallway/reception room, rear kitchen (pet friendly), 1st floor hallway.

We would want it to dial and/or text certain numbers when activated.

It must be upgradeable, so we can ad/remove PIRs/contacts easily.

The Alarm

The house is currently going through a large renovation. So now is a good time for wiring. But costs are an issue, and we'd hope that this would cost around £500.

We thought wireless, potentially so it could be a DIY job, but also because it would be easy to add/replace items.

We want something decent but it does not need to be cutting edge or super-security.

Costs

How much do you think we should be paying, and should we go for wired or wireless? Personally I would prefer a wireless professional system. But it is costs dependant.

Thanks all.

Hi Rossyl

Welcome

I dont cover North London but I would guess £600 to £800 either way. I would choose hard wired over wireless if possible

really??  are golds that cheap now...  :-
