sjsturner Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Well we will see how it turns out. I have offered to sort it out. Not giving the money back and removing the system until they have allowed me to fix it. They were doing the house up and were trying to keep my labour down so they did the cabling so they could plaster. I would have prefered to install the cabling and returned later. What was annoying, they needed two zones in a certain place and only used 6 core wire. I had to piss about doing EOL resistors. Thanks guys anyway. i take it you wired all zones eol? also any unused zones need 10k resistors across them once you have progged misc 03 options 2/3 ON iall zones need to be eol and the aux tamp linked out.
marcus19811981 Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Yes its EOL. All 8 zones in use, tamper linked out. It looks like the guys going to allow me to fix it after all. What I intend to do. I need to find out what this fault is for the experience of knowing incase it ever happens aghain. 1. Power the panel up on an extention lead pluged in so its not on a lighting circuit. 2. Link out all the zones and remove the Aux 12V wires to the sensors. 3 If the fault disappears I will connect the zones up and leave it at default. 4. If the fault happens it has to be ither the programming or the alarm cabling. 5. At this point I only need to find out which one(s0 it is. Can't see any cable laid along power cables so that won't be a problem 5. If no fault occurs then its the mains power supply spur. I just hope its to do with the the spur. If not I'm F**ked again LOL I'll find it one way ot the other, Some one might give me a medel Lol. Ive had another new panel on test all week so its fine.

Oxo Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Forget the new panels....................not worth a bit of paper in the wind. You need to prove ALL circuit cables and no earth faults. You need to prove the supply. Then connect the panel, You are going about this the wrong way IMHO. Connecting and trying to back trace here is wrong and a waste of time. If you don`t prove everything before you`ll be in the same boat, out of pocket and being claimed against. But all we can do is advise.
james.wilson Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 to be fair id connect the panel and diagnose from there oxo. I dont see much of an issue with what he has planned securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Oxo Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 He is doing EXACTLY if he says so as he did before. NOT checking the supply and cables. Just connecting. Then thinking it is the programming. Check the cables first. This is basic stuff. AND customer supplied stuff. I would want to see a clean stable supply AND all cables to peripherals checked before the panel is introduced. ESPECIALLY after the previous issues. Or would you just trust everything after the previous? I am not being horrible or "point" scoring, Just trying to help the bloke, who is from the above wondering in blind again.
james.wilson Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 oxo, he has said he is going to run it from a temp plugged supply and not wire anything in? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
gym_rat Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 leaving aside the fact he`s already had it plugged in and it works fine (when he took it home) he`s also obsessed with it been induced AC. it`s a plastic panel for goodness sake! it`s a fault on the supply wiring what would I do? test meter on spur and go and switch every light in the house on - don`t forget the flood round the back!!!!!! I`ll wager the neutral is actually a switched live.
james.wilson Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 it`s a plastic panel for goodness sake! educate me, how is that relevant on induced ac? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Oxo Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 educate me, how is that relevant on induced ac? Generally the tampers are grounded to earth on a metal panel That is why.
