Oxo Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 FFS Just eating popcorn I made and crunched a kernal. Bottom left 6 just shattered. No pain and no decay in the exposed, just shattered off. The top and outer side still intact. Extraction?
gym_rat Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I`m still waiting for him to put mine back in for me - back of the queue you!
Driller Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Even dentists have to sleep... Oxo are you serious? That's pretty bad luck if it's true. Did the tooth already have a filling in it? Is it one side or one quarter (cusp) that's come off? Let me know how it goes. I'm wondering if it could be interesting to start an Ask Dr Driller thread in the lounge if it was useful for folk.
Oxo Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Yep serious. One side, inside, Crown intact. No decay, no filling. No pain. No appointment until Wednesday. Never mind, will just not eat that side til then. Teeth are in good shape, one crown on front, from when I should have ducked years ago. That was renewed 2 yrs ago as gums had receded a bit. All others okay, a couple of fillings. But always tried to look after them. Stopping smoking 10 yrs ago has helped.

Oxo Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Awaiting Drillers opinion myself. Considering how we have all assisted, and his kind offer a "Dental Board" might be beneficial to all. Until then keep brushing and flossing!!
sjsturner Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 yea sounds a good idea. i can recommend root canal treatment if you like intense pain!
Oxo Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Well it turned out there was a filling there, 2009. When I had root canal for the front tooth/crown ( replacement for the old one as mentioned ) . Why I had forgotten about it and it was a "white" filling. Also had the two top back "eye" teeth removed, were offset and hitting cheeks. ( Think you`ll know what I mean). She cleaned it out and refilled it. A quick descale and of course the offer of a full "clean" for £40,00. Dentists are always on the make As mentioned no pain and sorted in about 40 mins. Mouth is feeling fresh again ( As it does after a clean anyway). She congratulated me on the flossing and electric brush regime Also said I could do better!!! Said she was a PITA! So Driller, what else is needed. Just applied for a freebie new Colgate toothpaste on the market (Check FB) but generally use Sensodyne and Oral B toothpastes alternating. As one is for whitening and the other for general good hygiene. Change the Oral B lekky brush head every 3 months. Have to admit oral hygiene was poor in the past especially with smoking ( Stopped 10 yrs ago). Any suggestions for more years with all the nashers with a reasonable "white" finish. (Thinking about a "bleaching"), but will the crown not be affected? Have a good set compared to other mates (Am 49). Seems our generation did not think too much about oral hygiene too much when I look about. Drummed it into my sons from a early age. Clean Clean, Floss and Floss. And spend at least 5 mins with a toothbrush, using it not making froth. Okay I vote we have a dental thread. We have helped "Driller" now for some reciprocal .
