Guest ALSEC Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Hi All Can anyone else me with setting up remote access with Texecom Premier 24? Not the programming side of things, I need to know how to physically do it, ie which modem to use remote end etc etc. Any help appreciated. Thanks Ronnie
breff Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 use a com2400 in the panel, if you look at setup in the wintex software there are loads of modem types, I havent found a modem yet that wont work if you set the modem to generic hayes in wintex. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Guest ALSEC Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Make sure you set a UDL password otherwise you wont get past square 1! I agree with above, not come across a modem yet that doesnt work with the Com2400 panel modem 23350[/snapback] Thanks for the replies! Just to clarify, the com2400 connects to the panel and the phone line and is a communicator/modem? Am i able to do remote reset this way? Also, I need to have a seperate modem at the remote end which connects to PSTN? Is it possible to do all this via the web as I have an ADSL connection so I'm thinking it may be a pain to have to disconnect ADSL to dial up to a panel - if you see what I mean. Any help always welcome!!
breff Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 You wouldnt need to disconnect ADSL, you would just have two network connections running. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Guest Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 If you use a normal 56k maodem for the remote access at your end it accesses the phone line in the same way as the telephone would, which works while ADSL is on. It's a lot easier for you to see for yourself by not touching your ADSL connection and connecting remotely to the Premier than it would be to explain that it does work!

Will have to test and see what works for me. Thanks for all the help!
