Dodgy Access Control

Our maglock that prevents the door from opening when the alarm set

Under BS8243 is the method of using a reader outside the premises to set a system no longer allowed as the setting procedure must start from inside the premises?

I didn't realise you could get tampered maglocks?

The readers are as are the contacts but the emergency release/egress and maglocks aren't as I'm not aware of any products that exist that offer it. It's the same issue with fire, people can play with our kit and we'd never know as it doesn't have any tampers.

It can, in a roundabout sort of way.

Door forced

Door ajar

Break glass detected

Added to the control panel tamper they can all provide evidence of abnormal behaviour.

This job has been in a while so bs8243 doesn't apply to this ine but as you say the rules have changes adding yet more cost to the job by needing a reader inside to initiate setting and one outside to turn it off. This only applies if wanting a urn, passing the alarms via non urn lines you can't still do whatever you like including confirm from entry zones, user codes. Doesn't even have to be graded kit as we've discussed before. This is the frustration.

Ok but what would be the point of having a reader outside as ccts would have to be programmed as entry to allow setting. Would the system not go into bad set if the ccts were programmed as intruder? Or has that also changed.

That's a very good question. On ATS we program them as access without arm check which stops it being an issue as you can specifically tell it to not create a problem. The nearest thing on a galaxy is exit aka walk through. I presume a walk through zone shouldn't create a fault and as there is no final exit zone, if someone broke in and tripped them they would act as normal intruders and create a confirmed alarm although never tested that other than on ATS.

Would have thought Matt would have integrated everything MASaccess control and all that jazz.

This was installed before we had the ATS/MAS integration. Sadly its a galaxy with DCMs and a complete pain. It's got another 2 years to go before it gets an ATS upgrade.

That makes sense. Obviously would need a PTS as there is no final exit for contact set. cheers

Yeppers

Give that man 11 out of 10 for product knowledge.
