Sydney
I am about to purchase a new alarm system as my current one is outdated and i am paying through the nose for annual service. As i have just decorated the whole house I really would like to avoid a load of new wiring going round the place. Are the current wireless systems used by major installers now reliable. I would be gratfeul for any tips.
Lwillis
Depds what system you go for, 2 way is better. Personally I'd recommend a galaxy hybrid but that's a "pro panel" Castle do an enforcer which ive heard some good things about. Mind me asking who is your current Maintence company?? cybergibbons
The better wireless stuff is good. Avoid the really cheap stuff like the plague. If it has antennas sticking out of it, avoid it like the plague with sprinkles on. I have a blog, some of which is about alarm security and reverse engineering:http://cybergibbons.com/

cybergibbons
Mmm mmm http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIRELESS-AUTODIAL-PHONE-BURGLAR-HOME-HOUSE-OFFICE-INTRUDER-SECURITY-ALARM-SALES-/110996691633?pt=UK_Burglar_Alarms&hash=item19d7eb1ab1 That doesn't even show the antenna extended. cybergibbons
One of these I looked at appeared to set the alarm off by sending a jamming signal. matthew.brough
Jesus Christ, it's like an 80's radio lol . Agreed. Antenna that size should be able to get radio Luxemburg. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
datadiffusion
Its the siren I love on these tat boxes. Like some chinese clone of a horn from a Perodua Nippa... Oh and "Please Note 315MHz is ILLEGAL & NOT Stable In Europe" - thanks, noted.... So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
PeterJames
How old is your existing system? You may find the existing cables are still servicable, the late wireless stuff is fairly reliable and much better than the ebay tat but I would always go for hardwired where possible.
