eddiewhiteley Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Hi All Ive purchased a paxton compact access control unit for a little project, very simple to setup with the mag locks. However, there will also be a seperate door phone which needs to operate the same lock - Ive been told i need a relay (and have one - a videx n506?) however im not sure i do?Can i just connect the output of the doorphone to the exit switch input in series with the exit switch? If not, can anyone advise how i need to wire in the relay ? Confusing the hell out of me!Thanks all!

matthew.brough Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Surely if you are buying kit such as Paxton the above should make sense to you? It's self explanatory. If not, why don't you call an engineer who knows what he is doing to install it? www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
james.wilson Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 It is the diy section matt do you have a relay output from your audio unit securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
matthew.brough Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 It is the diy section matt do you have a relay output from your audio unit Hmm. Diyer playing with pro kit If want to some water in my windscreen wipers I do it. If I want the engine changing I get a mechanic to do it. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
eddiewhiteley Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Thanks for your help matt. Its a paxton compact, i can easily connect that to the mag strips and get that working thats not a problem. Its the addition of the relay thats confusing me, once i get my head round it, with some help, ill be ok. @jameswilson On the audio unit i have 3 outputs, nc, no and com. I was questioning weather i need the relay at all, would just connecting both nc outputs on the paxton and the audio unit directly to the mag strips not work? Thanks for your help http://www.interquartz.co.uk/UserFiles/documents/manuals/Interquartz%20ID%20Doorphone%20Manual%20V12a.pdf Thats my door phone - page 6 is the relay output stuff! The relay i have (and not sure im going to need) is: http://www.locksonline.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Videx_506N_Relay.html Hmm. Diyer playing with pro kit If want to some water in my windscreen wipers I do it. If I want the engine changing I get a mechanic to do it. Good luck putting water in your wipers
james.wilson Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 You don't need the relay, just connect the com to 0v and N/O to the rte input on the Paxton. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
eddiewhiteley Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Thanks, I can do that with the phone and the paxton? and just for clarification is it not the NC i need rather than the NO? Its magnetic locks which are always powered until the paxton says so?
matthew.brough Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Normally open, it is a request to exit input. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
