Mathew Ashworth Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I've been decorating lately and switching off the sockets at the breaker (to remove them and wallpaper, then replace socket).. Would seem the alarm is wired to the sockets breaker. Anyhow the first time I turned the sockets off & back on, the alarm (keypad box) made a beeping sound, entered my code, stopped beeping, alarm would set as usual, everything was normal. But I've turned the sockets off a couple more times to finish off the rest of the decorating. However now, the alarm won't set. Lights show "Zone 7" at fault. I haven't a foggiest what Zone 7 is, I didn't fit the alarm. As well as the light on Zone 7, it also beeps 7 times, but never sets. Electricity off roughly 20 mins, doubt it's battery flat, if it has one? Now if I enter my user code, full set, omit "7", Prog it will begin to set & give me the exit tone. Clueless as the what the hell has happened, never having fitted or having an alarm in previous properties. The omitting thing would be alright, but it needs doing everytime, shame it can't remember to omit it after the first time.. Also worth noting, there's only one door, front door, magnetic sensor. That is on Zone 1 and works as normal, I have 4 windows, each have a sensor on, not sure what sensors they are, by the looks of it, they're tamper ones, if anyone hits/smashes windows/vibrate etc. There are no movement sensors.
Mathew Ashworth Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Hi Chris, thanks for the reply. I couldn't figure out what Zone 7 was at first, only 1 door, 4 windows, 5 sensors. I feel so stupid though, I managed to find the problem before I went bed. Some daft little box with a big red button that I removed in the bedroom to put out of sight was the culprit, I thought it was some old persons/disabled switch, if I press it, Zone 7 lights up when trying to set it. Place used to be disabled adapted. I don't see what the button is for, when it just causes Zone 7 to light on the keypad. I thought the button was an alarm that goes to doctors for old people or something haha, good job I didn't cut the wire at the wall at chuck it xD
