Deltaseven Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 I had a customer today who complained (at length - took over an hour! ) that her Optex RX-40s are 'too loud'. She was referring to the click when the relay opens and closes. I have to agree that the click is fairly distinctive, but it doesn't worry me in my home! This customer wants all the detectors replaced with 'non clicking' detectors. Anyone else had this complaint? Is there any way to reduce the click without replacing the PIRs? D7
Brian c Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 cover the inside of all the lids with tape that should do it moanin' b*****ds! If you don't know......ask.
norman Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Place a small square of non conductive foam over the relay. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Peter James Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 I know that Optex are aware of the problem, the rep asked me if any of my customers have complained. The rep said that the noise can be muffled by using sponge or tape. Pete
Guest RICHL Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 I agree with your customer 100% , I have an RX40 in my kitchen and it's a PITA. This is the main reason why we ditched the RX40 a couple of years ago. We use detectors with solid state relays now as standard. If you have to swap them then try texecom prestigue QD, or crow TLC30 both are similar spec.
Brian c Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 you wanna get a professional to come and change it for you! If you don't know......ask.
Guest RICHL Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 I know that Optex are aware of the problem, the rep asked me if any of my customers have complained. why waite for customers to complain Pete, how many jobs has that lost you? I have alarm fitters ear syndrome and I can still hear them! The RX40s werent too bad until Optex did away with the shielded relay and put the price up at the same time
