matthew.brough Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Come on we've all sent the new boy for a long weight or tartan paint Sky hooks and bubble for a spirit level was what they got me with www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
datadiffusion Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Forgot that one. Mate worked at a PLC repair place whilst at college and they called him Bubble after the first week! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
skywalker Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Explain please needs work doing? the main thing i dislike is the keypad, its a pain to use especially on smaller phones. in my opinion the idea of having a picture of an actual keypad, with interactive buttons was a good one in theory, but the app would be easier to use if it had a UI specifically designed for a phone.
cybergibbons Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I've not seen the app yet, but skeuomorphism (copy real world objects in virtual interfaces) is quite often the downfall of apps. I have a blog, some of which is about alarm security and reverse engineering:http://cybergibbons.com/
datadiffusion Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Presumably not from a security point of view? From a design pov it does make sense, providing the need for absolutely zero additional training or familiarity should someone used to using the hardware decide to use the app long after the installer has explained the system... So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
norman Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Word of the day award goes to... skeuomorphismI'm going to see if I can use that word today in a conversation. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
datadiffusion Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Take Mrs Norm to the carpet shop... Blimey, look at that classic skeuomorphism! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

cybergibbons Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Do you like what they have done with iOS 7 then? I like iOS 7. Yes, it does appear as if they have taken some good bits of Android and good bits of Windows phones and copied them. It's a better OS as a result. Still on the fence about Android and Apple. My iPhone was far closer to what I wanted/needed out of the box than my HTC. But I can't make it do somethings I want that I easily made the HTC do.
