Help With Acet Pulsar Door Entry

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I fitted a 1-way audio door entry kit today, Its a Screwfix item 42342. All went well but the customer rang to say the handset doesnt buzz like the last one. After a visit and a look inside the unit I have spotted that there isnt a buzzer in this model.

After some internet searching I see that there is no buzzer fitted on some models. I know I sound stupid but how is the person in the flat going to know someone is pressing the door buzzer (which works fine) so they can let them in?

This is the screwfix link:

This is the handset:

There is a note about the buzzer, it says:

Note : The lack of
AC buzzer, this is an
electronic call 5 wire handset, operates with the
21323 Amp

Any help would be great,

Thanks

Hi Ian

Welcome to the forum

Please dont take this the wrong way but I would be surprised if someone does reply on this one, I doubt very much that any of the professional installers will be familiar with the screwfix products.

I may be wrong but I do believe that screwfix have their own forum though

Hi Ian,

As above. Sadly we only know about pro kit generally and screwfix isn't a place installers use to purchase equipment from. (other than maybe the odd 1" 8)

You've no idea how much I struggled with a B&Q alarm that my mate wanted help with.

Big multi zone college with groups = no problem

B&Q house alarm = clueless

COME BACK!!!

I can possibly explain, but not answer this one if you know what I mean :)

I keep on the van a Fermax Universal handset. Costs about £5 more than a normal one but fits, literally, about 300 different

brands of door entry system.

Amongst many of the jumpers, links and DIP switches are ones for the buzzer....

It would seem some systems pulse an actual buzzer in the handset....

Others merely play a very loud centrally generated tone (=electronic call) through the handset earpiece ONLY if it is 'on hook' (for obvious reasons)

Perhaps Screwfux's supplier changed the design mid season? Was your customer trying to test with it off hook too?

Oh he's gone.... :(

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Ah, now that sounds like an idea, ive just noticed there isnt a buzzer in the old handset (And that must have made some sort of noise as they didnt complain about that) . . . . I did notice there was also a volume control in the door speaker . . . .any chance that could make the buzz louder?

Thanks for the info

Not usually that will just be for the speaker at the outside panel....

You might want to check the switch that forms the on hook / off hook mechanism?

Ah . . . . and my brain finally wakes up . . . .I bet they havent put the handset down properly, they were having trouble and I couldnt really explain (they are Albanian i think) . . . .

Or have been heavy handed and bent it (if its cheaper kit with bare metal not a sealed mechanism like Fermax)

Esp. if it doubles as Push To Release!
