So come on then, tell us all your findings on all these problems you seem to have with Risco.

Odd because you seem to only bang on about Galaxy.

 

I've only ever had one problem with a Risco device and that was the other week. Wireless door contact/shock high current draw. Killing the battery in a matter of weeks.

However, in general, the battery life of their wireless product i'd say is pretty good.

We have a pretty big estate of 490x and 600/601. 2 agility and 1 lightsys which went in last week.

I like risco and have always said this. We are going to be moving across to lightsys for new installations in domestics.

Installed 6 Agility 3 over the past few months. Have 24 Lightsys and the rest are 600/601, CPX and 480. Our main panel is the 600/601 now.

I don't understand why Risco get slated as they are very stable. We have sites sitting with 30-50 detectors on and have been stable for years.

Their wireless range is excellent apart from the odd detector eating batteries. Just gone back to the XS3D bell. Service and delivery is excellent imo. I would even go as far as say Risco go further than most intruder companies bringing out new product.

And at last years IFSEC, the Risco stand was constantly one of the busiest on the day i visited.

 

Suggests it's still a popular brand.

I have had one faulty 490 panel, one faulty wireless bell (cant remember the model), a couple of contacts that eat batteries and a pir that didnt go to sleep.

AP, do you have a risco survey kit? I am told they dont do one so I was toying with the idea of making my own.

The last problem minor one was the bell tamp was not soldered onto the circuit board(first time) but gas solder on fire and fixed in 1 min.

Timmo, kit is always programmed in the office with wireless by myself. Once on site panel is installed and detectors are placed in rooms. Wireless strength activated and if all ok ready to go. I have had 2 installs where the receiver had to be mounted approx 3 metres from panel to obtain max signal strength. They were very old Victorian buildings.

The panel is always pre programmed with everything before going to site but I do realise if you get kit on day of install this can't happen.

Test signal strength before full installation and receiver. 10% above signal blocking on the receiver and no problems so far.

Used Risco for the past 12 years and top equipment imo.

Would be good to know signal strengths are going to be okay before installation. Can play around with locations rather than the eng wasting time on the day.

We always do a wireless strength test before install.

Install panel then do detector strength test. I like the 600 etc as the wireless receiver can be moved to get better signal strength. One way but it's G2 as standard and works. All this 2 way blah blah.

Again, i find their staff, on the whole, pleasant to deal with and very helpful. It would also seem you've never dealt with their trade counter..

 

As for employing muppets, i'd say Honeywell have the monopoly in that department.
