Remote Cctv System Design And Connection

Having worked for an ARC specialising in CCTV surviellance I can confirm that we never had a would be burglar ignore the announcement from the ARC, in almost 100% of cases they ran and were deterred, in the rest they waited for the Police who had already been informed and were attending site.

Sites with false signage can only expect the worst, as with sites with dummy cameras; if the sites do not take their security seriously why would the criminal fraternity.

Guys. Thanks for your responses, although I must say they don't fill me with much confidence.

I totally agree with the stance on stand alone CCTV, total waste of money in my view, but remote monitoring, done correctly, is pro-active and DOES deter crime. Having specified, installed and monitored systems for many years I can confirm that.

As to what I do as an independent consultant, as mentioned, I can assist those that do not know the in's and out's on remote CCTV etc. and assist end users in determining what level of security they require without the pressure from the installer.

As to ARC charges, many are charging as little as £1.00 per camera per week, hardly expensive for cover every night 365 nights per annum

Still not sure how this stacks up.

From your description you seem to want to advise both the end user and the installer. This reads as if its for the same potential job/install. Clearly you may upset one or both parties. Can't see you being Mr popular if thats the case.

More importantly - who pays you and how much?

Yelling at them down the pa speaker should be a deterrent though.

Especially if it was goncall doing the yellin . . .

I've got a unit for the van does exactly that, never fitted as I went for the GSM module. Might have to record that one off and have both!

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Looks quote retro somehow - but handy. Shame there isn't a 'playing' relay output to allow internal

speakers to be shared between the panel tones and voice.

USB upload would be ideal but the 1v line in is still handy, my unit on the van only has the onboard mic.

I imagine it can be done with a Premier use the "Internal Speaker" type output to drive a DP relay.
