Guest nexus Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 Hope some one has had similar issues with radio reed switches. I have installed heaps of these NESS (aussie brand) radio reed switch usually on aluminium door frames in shops. The last install has casued me heaps of grief, after severals days of learning the devise into the panel it forgets whether the door is open or closed eg zone is sealed or unsealed. When the client goes to arm the store at night two zones are unsealed, these being the radio reeds which have become confused. It has me baffled, the signal strength for these devices are quite good between 4-6. I return the the store - re-learn the device into the panel and its fine for several days - then another call!!! The other 3 radio reeds are working fine (at this point). There is alot of metal in this store and the cordless phone they use has very poor reception. Which may be a clue. Help!!!! David
Deltaseven Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 Wireless is always a problem!!!!!!!!!! Have you measured the RF levels in the shop? Try swaping one of the working reeds with a problematic one, and see if the fault follows the switch or the location. That will give you a clue as to what the problem is. If the fault stays with the location (which is suspect will be the case) is it possible to install repeaters? How far are the switches from the main unit? Good luck, D7
Guest RICHL Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 Is it possible to re-site the transmitter to something other than the aliminium doorframe?
Guest elbert Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 David, Re-site the transmitter is an option indeed if you're using the NESS-RR2. The RR2 has an external input for hardwired reedswitches. You can also make adjustments to the transmitter antenna, I've done this a few times in the past, creating a long range transmission. "thank god wireless has never been a problem to me: Bless Ness.."
