goncall Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Same here, seen a few spars change to nisa, vivo, premiers etc. Still and awful lot of them. vivo, never seen one of them, plenty costcutters
matthew.brough Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Neither had I and 3 sprung up near where I live. One was a spar but don't know what the other 2 were previously www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Odds on, you are right. These had 1.25 firmware, I upgraded them to 3.53. The SIMs in them work for about 20m then Voda send some kind of kill signal... Now you mention it I think I remember seeing "ri" when CSL dial into them. I remember when they dial in it displays a letter combination not covered in the manual. Wouldn't it be the Gemini network killing them rather than Vodafone?
datadiffusion Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Round here all the premiers are now Spars again... In Bath there was a spate of 'posh' spars doing cooked chickens, fresh veg etc... Didn't last, now looking scruffy as hell and selling bubblegum 'n' sim cards. Now you mention it I think I remember seeing "ri" when CSL dial into them. I remember when they dial in it displays a letter combination not covered in the manual. Wouldn't it be the Gemini network killing them rather than Vodafone? ri as in 'ringing' or Ring In.... makes sense! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 ri as in 'ringing' or Ring In.... makes sense! Was thinking "remote interface" but as I say I am not 100% it was a good while ago, not had any issues with them for a long while.
goncall Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 maybe they know its been tampered with, hence the kill signal...
datadiffusion Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 yeah that sounds more technical and plausible, we'll go with that maybe they know its been tampered with, hence the kill signal... Almost certainly from what CG said about the 20 minute lifetime! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
SouthernBrad Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Wouldn't mind having my network tested by a hacking boffin. A company in Kent called NTA Monitor will do it.
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 A company in Kent called NTA Monitor will do it. There are a good few PEN Testing companies
