That's a bad idea, this would cause an earth loop.

Also just think how noisy that mains earth would be from EMF and RFI.

IIRC around 25yrs ago stuff started to get modern features of time & date logs & lcd displays ect...

that would be one if my concerns, but more so if you got a earth elsewhere, it could bypass a zone or tamper.

old school was to make 8 - 10 turns coil around a small screwdriver to act as a 'choke' in each core at the panel.
