dazoman1 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 turnt on a new galaxy 48 panel today and recieved stars on the keypad end, thought might of been cable issue so made a flying lead off and connected keypad by panel, still recieved same problem.. yes made sure A and B was right way around also dip switch was correct set to two, took all over rios off system to see if something was dragging it down or address was the same somewhere and still stars.... tested voltage off A and B and had a constant 3.2v this should of been jumping all over the place according to technical support has anyone else had these issues with galaxy?
matthew.brough Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 The voltage should as they say be varying as it's a 485 line. Yes, I've had plenty of galaxy's die on the bus. It's an expensive pcb to replace too. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
goncall Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I take it you tried another rkp leave the rkp off and see if the Rios come on line,if not its the panel.
dazoman1 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 i took off keypads and tested the bus line and still had 3.2v so must be panel.. didnt have spare rkp
GalaxyGuy Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Is the on-board telecoms LED flashing at all, or isn't the panel starting up ? I've repaired a few Dimension PCB's, but they're normally pretty robust. Faults I've seen have usually been down to install error where the +12V line has been applied to the data. Also seen corrupt flash and a pcb that was fried by lightning.
dazoman1 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 yeah panel starts up, telecoms led does flash .. once every second
GalaxyGuy Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 It's going to be keypad or the bus on the panel. At the panel (with keypad disconnected) measuring the differential bus needs to be done with respect to ground and not each other (A-B). You can also power down and measure resistance with respect to ground, If the reading is only a few ohms, then there is a hardware fault on the PCB.
dazoman1 Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 just an update, i got a new panel and keypad did try new keypad first but had to do a panel change
