kingkongdaz Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Chaps, What's the best DVR which requires no internet set-up for those who want to view their property via a mobile device without the installer having to do all the port forwarding, plug and play? Thanks Darran http://www.spyingeye.co.uk
Cubit Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 There isn't going to be one. The port forwarding/rules etc is a necessity due to the router doing its job.
datadiffusion Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 If there was a unit that used a fixed domain as an intermediary that would not require setting up in the traditional manner though, wouldn't it, a bit like webway or the Siemens SPC spcanywhere web service? Granted there is no such thing, and if there was who would trust the remote gubbins to still be there in 2 or 3 years time? So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
Cubit Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I know of at least one NVR that can work the way the OP mentions, but i'd say it's outside his price band.
Paul P Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I would go for a supplier that will set up the routers for you. Trade Member

The Vectus range we are using have "Auto Port Forward". It's obviously not going to work on all networks but for domestics with uPNP enabled it works fine.
matthew.brough Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I would go for a supplier that will set up the routers for you. I'd employ an engineer that was capable of doing the work he was tasked to do. In fact the fact that suppliers need to offer a service to configure a router shows what **** fitters are out there fitting this stuff. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
Alarm Protection Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 That is our main DVR sixwheeled. Easy to set up and user friendly. !
Cubit Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 And Considering the op appears to be targeting the domestic market I suspect the homeowner already owns a router.
matthew.brough Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 And Considering the op appears to be targeting the domestic market I suspect the homeowner already owns a router. Indeed they do. This is my home modem/router/firewall/DMZ. I'd pay money to see the guys face who was tasked to install a maplin DVR trying to setup port forwarding www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
