matthew.brough Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I have two of those HP servers in my office Matt great value for money for what they are The micro servers or the baby ml? www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
matthew.brough Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Micro I've got 4 of them and been very pleased. 3 are wan gateways and all run a Linux based piece of software and the other box is being used as a nas server running windows storage server 2012 in a iscsi config to vSphere. Just got another one off ebuyer that landed today as a spare as cash back offer on again. Only £120. As you say for the money can't grumble at all. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
MrHappy Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 other box is being used as a nas server running windows storage server 2012 in a iscsi config to vSphere. what the advantage over buying a NAS box Mr Veritas God
matthew.brough Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 what the advantage over buying a NAS boxStandard hardware which we have spares for so if any of my gateways or nas dies I have a backup unit in stock. Same with the ml110 and ml350 servers we have. By standardising in 3 boxes allows us to keep spares. With it being a windows box links in with active directory for logins Can run windows software on it and run one of the backup proxies on it for load balancing as the backup software can be a bit processor intensive. As it's windows, makes it easier for the hacker to get in www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
PeterJames Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I have one running SME the other is a WHS running my Plex media server about 8TB nearly 30% full of movies in MTV format. I think mine were £50 cash back when I purchased them so even cheaper than £120.00, James put me on to them. I have even thought about using them as DVRs but I dont think the processor is powerful enough for that
datadiffusion Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Dont ditch the discs though, I lost all my DVD iso's as I had so much I couldnt afford to back it up... So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
