i do sometimes get the odd pulse on the tv when the fridge makes a noise but never on the vga monitor

made me wish id bought some shielded stuff but its only when the fridge turns off the cooling. so not a real issue

Economies of scale I guess?

aye could be :teehee:

when i bought my black cable that was the only one that was dearer than the others,

at the time i assumed the stuff they use to color it black cost more,

but now the orange is the same price :cold2:

I had a call from an installer I know who had used CAT5 with baluns and he had signal problems with interference... I suggested using RG59 shotgun but do it one at a time and test each one in turn.  After running cables into 2 cams he found the remaining 2 were fine.  I have been using RG59 shotgun exclusively as I have always been a believer in one purpose made cable per camera.  Also I have installed HD-SDI which gives 1080p digital signal over RG59.  Just out of interest does anyone use CAT6 or is that above and beyond anything that would ever be required?

I don't routinely use CAT6, because what exactly are you future proofing for? A 20 megapixel IP camera running at 100fps?

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
