emsgeorge Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 Those horrible letters on a box ......... CCA - copper clad aluminium. When you know you are subbing for a really cruddy company. chaps for the recommendation on the QED stuff.
EggyBum69 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 im interested in this thread ive got blackbox cable here why are some colors dearer than others ? http://www.blackbox.co.uk/gb-gb/fi/1234/11407/GigaBase-350-CAT5e,350MHz-Bulk-Cable/ i do sometimes get the odd pulse on the tv when the fridge makes a noise but never on the vga monitor made me wish id bought some shielded stuff but its only when the fridge turns off the cooling. so not a real issue
datadiffusion Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 why are some colors dearer than others ? Economies of scale I guess? So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
EggyBum69 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Economies of scale I guess? aye could be when i bought my black cable that was the only one that was dearer than the others, at the time i assumed the stuff they use to color it black cost more, but now the orange is the same price
olijones11 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 sometimes colour denotes whether its duct grade, LSF, VLSF or NSF cable, explains the changes in cost too
Steven_W Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I had a call from an installer I know who had used CAT5 with baluns and he had signal problems with interference... I suggested using RG59 shotgun but do it one at a time and test each one in turn. After running cables into 2 cams he found the remaining 2 were fine. I have been using RG59 shotgun exclusively as I have always been a believer in one purpose made cable per camera. Also I have installed HD-SDI which gives 1080p digital signal over RG59. Just out of interest does anyone use CAT6 or is that above and beyond anything that would ever be required?
datadiffusion Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I don't routinely use CAT6, because what exactly are you future proofing for? A 20 megapixel IP camera running at 100fps? So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
